How to Apply Press-On Nails with Jelly Adhesive Tabs

ZeeyesNail press-on nails are designed to be worn with jelly adhesive tabs rather than liquid nail glue. Jelly tabs create a flexible, removable bond, allowing the handmade nail pieces to be taken off cleanly and reused with a fresh tab for the next wear.

1. Choose the correct nail size

Each press-on should cover the natural nail from sidewall to sidewall without touching the skin. If a nail needs to be forced flat, it is probably too small. If you are between sizes, choose the larger size and gently file the edge for a more comfortable fit. Use our press-on nail measuring guide before ordering.

2. Prepare your natural nails

  1. Wash your hands and dry them completely.
  2. Gently push back excess cuticle from the nail plate.
  3. Lightly buff away surface shine without thinning the natural nail.
  4. Remove dust, oil, lotion, and moisture with an alcohol wipe.
  5. Arrange the ten press-ons in finger order before applying the jelly tabs.

Jelly tabs adhere best to clean, dry nails. Avoid applying hand cream or cuticle oil immediately before your manicure.

3. Select and apply the jelly tabs

  1. Choose a jelly tab that fits within the width of each natural nail.
  2. Place the tab in the center of the nail without allowing it to overlap the skin.
  3. Press and smooth the tab firmly so there are no trapped air bubbles.
  4. Peel away the protective film only when you are ready to attach the press-on nail.

Use a fresh jelly tab for every application. The tab itself is replaced after wear, while the handmade press-on nail can be kept and applied again.

4. Attach the press-on nails

  1. Align the press-on close to the cuticle without placing it directly on the skin.
  2. Lower the nail into position and check that it sits straight.
  3. Press firmly across the center and both sides for about 30 seconds.
  4. Repeat one nail at a time for the most controlled application.

5. Help the jelly tabs stay secure

Apply the nails only when your hands are completely dry. Avoid applying them immediately after showering or soaking your hands, and wear gloves during prolonged washing or cleaning. Do not use the press-on nails as tools, and choose a practical length for your daily routine.

Common reasons press-on nails lift early

  • The natural nail still had oil, lotion, or moisture on it.
  • The jelly tab was too large, too small, or touched the surrounding skin.
  • Air bubbles were trapped underneath the tab.
  • The selected press-on size did not match the nail width or curve.
  • The nails were exposed to prolonged water or heavy activity too soon.

Removing and reusing your set

To remove the nails, soak the hand wearing the press-ons in warm water for about one minute. Starting from the side, use an orangewood stick to lift each nail gently. If a nail resists, return it to the warm water briefly instead of forcing it.

After removal, peel away the used jelly tabs, allow the press-on nails to dry completely, and store them in their original order. Read our full removal and reuse guide.
