How to Measure Your Nails for Press-On Nails

The best-looking press-on manicure starts with fit. A nail that is too small can feel tight and lift at the sides, while a nail that is too wide may overlap the skin and look less natural. Why accurate sizing matters

Correct sizing improves comfort, appearance, and wear time. Each press-on should cover the natural nail without pressing into the surrounding skin. Because your left and right hands may not be identical, measure all ten nails instead of assuming both hands match.

What you need

• A small piece of clear tape or a soft measuring tape
• A fine-tip pen
• A ruler marked in millimeters
• Your phone or a note to record all ten measurements

How to measure each nail

1. Start with clean, bare nails. Remove polish and make sure the nail surface is dry.
2. Measure the widest point. Place clear tape horizontally across the widest part of the natural nail, from one sidewall to the other.
3. Mark both edges. Use a fine-tip pen to mark where each side of the nail meets the tape.
4. Flatten and measure. Remove the tape, place it on a ruler, and record the distance between the marks in millimeters.
5. Repeat for all ten nails. Write the numbers in order, starting with the left thumb and ending with the right little finger.
